iNaturalist App Instructions

 

Start an observation by tapping the green plus sign in the bottom right corner of your screen (Android) or the Observe camera symbol in the bottom center of your screen (Apple).
Take one or more photos:
Leaves
Flowers
Trunk
Select “It is captive or cultivated” if the plant has clearly been intentionally planted.

Using an Android Device
Identifying a Species
Click on “what do you see?”
Look through suggestions, and make a selection, ask for help, or leave it blank and someone will suggest an ID. 
Because you are looking at the entire plant, it is best to make a selection if possible, other people will still verify or suggest alternate IDs. 
Save the observation by clicking the green checkmark at the bottom of your screen (Android) or the green Share button at the bottom of your screen (Apple).
 
After you make the Observation
Find another species to document!
Try to work in an area and document everything you see.
