The Blue Hill Observatory is a National Historic Landmark and is recognized as a Centennial Observing Station by the World Meteorological Organization. There are only 11 in the U.S.


Our mission is to foster public understanding of Earth’s weather, climate, and environmental systems and to continue to produce, maintain, and analyze a meticulous, consistent record of weather and climate observations.

This "Giving Season" the Blue Hill Observatory has a critical and urgent need to raise $70,000 to support its Weather Observation Program.

This program advances an unbroken and unmatched 139-year record of the weather at the same site with minimal environmental change resulting in historic data that are an essential resource for climate change research and education.

A SPECIAL INCENTIVE TO GIVE!

In conjunction with his retirement, Charles Orloff will publish a new history book about the Blue Hill Observatory. 

Those giving $500 or more by January 15, 2025 will be acknowledged inside the book and will receive a copy of the book when it is published in March 2025.
