Boston Shock Squad Wrap Event: Celebrating a Heart-Smart Massachusetts

Join Cardiac Crusade and the Boston Shock Squad on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar to celebrate the successful conclusion of our "Restart a Heart: Massachusetts" campaign. Since our launch on National Restart a Heart Day, our grassroots movement of dedicated volunteers—including students from UMass Chan Medical School and Northeastern University—has been working tirelessly to map 1,500 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across the Commonwealth.

This "Wrap Event" marks the culmination of our mission to ensure these life-saving devices are visible and accessible to 911 dispatchers and bystanders when every second counts.

Why We Celebrate

Survival rates for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) currently average only 10% nationally, with some areas of Eastern Massachusetts seeing rates as low as 3%. By mapping AEDs, we are following the blueprint of cities like San Diego, where survival rates have climbed to 50–70%. Every verified AED registered by the Boston Shock Squad saves critical minutes during a cardiac emergency.

Cardiac Crusade Achievements and Milestones:

• Mapped over 1,200 AEDs during a four-month campaign in Western, NY.
   
• Worked with Google to send 7.5 million emails to US businesses resulting in 4,000+ AED registrations.
   
• Cardiac Crusade volunteers have verified 10,000+ AEDs…and counting.
   
• Statistically, the 10,000 AEDs verified by Cardiac Crusade volunteers will save 16 lives EACH YEAR.
   
• Currently in Massachusetts to map 1,500 AEDs between Oct 16, 2025 – Feb 14, 2026.
