Alexandra Stein, Ph.D. is a clinician, researcher, and advocate dedicated to advancing a deeper understanding of BPD. She is currently a postdoctoral psychology fellow at Silver Hill New York, specializing in the assessment and treatment of personality disorders. Her research highlights and explains the lived experience of having a “favorite person” in BPD and she recently introduced the first formal definition of the term to the scholarly literature.

In this webinar, Alexandra Stein, Ph.D., will share and discuss the findings of her research on the “favorite person” (FP) in borderline personality disorder (BPD). She will provide a formal definition of the FP, describe common experiences people report in these relationships, and demonstrate how FP relationships differ from other relationships, explaining why they have a unique capacity to amplify BPD symptoms and relationship patterns commonly experienced by people with BPD. Dr. Stein will also highlight ways in which clinicians, people with lived experience, and loved ones can navigate and address these intense relationship dynamics.
