About This Event
Hospice of Dubuque is excited to host Camp Kaleidoscope, a free camp for grieving children ages 5-13 who have recently experienced the death of a loved one. This camp is a community outreach program facilitated by trained Hospice of Dubuque staff members. Fun activity stations will help educate, empower, and equip children with healthy grief and coping skills.
Throughout the camp, children will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of therapeutic and creative activities designed to support emotional expression and healing. Grief centered yoga and guided movement sessions will encourage relaxation and body awareness, while outdoor hiking experiences will provide space for reflection and connection with nature. Hands-on crafting activities will allow campers to express their feelings in meaningful, creative ways, and aromatherapy stations will introduce calming scents to help manage stress and promote a sense of peace. In addition, music therapy activities will offer children a powerful outlet to explore emotions, build connections, and find comfort through rhythm and sound.
The day will conclude with a special memorial service where campers can honor and remember their loved ones in a meaningful way. This heartfelt ceremony will include a butterfly release, symbolizing hope, transformation, and the enduring connection to those they have lost, providing a gentle and memorable closing to a day of healing and support.
