New Venture Golf Tournament

About This Event

Proceeds from the New Venture Golf Tournament fund  the New Venture Camp Program, in partnership with Mecklenburg County DSS, during which we have the privilege of serving around 100 campers who are currently in DSS custody. Many of these campers are level 2 foster children and are unplaceable, institutional or therapeutic placement only children. This means that Camp Lurecrest is one of the few places they can experience child-like freedoms outside of institutional oversight.

New Venture Camp is a week-long overnight camp facilitated by Camp Lurecrest staff and volunteers. Some of the activities campers enjoy during New Venture Camp include: boat rides and tubing on Lake Lure, giant slip n’ slide, three-zipline tour, high ropes elements, and swimming in the pool and lake. New Venture campers also spend intentional time with their cabin groups, attend chapel each morning and evening, and hear from the speaker for the week.

It costs approximately $670/camper to put on New Venture Camp, but it is offered at no cost to the participants or their families. As a result of donations and grants from individuals, churches, and organizations, New Venture Camp has been happening for over 25 years! Alfred Garr, who founded Camp Lurecrest in 1948, had a vision to serve the poor and powerless through summer camp, and New Venture Camp is one way we continue to live out his vision. Your support of the New Venture Golf Tournament makes a difference in the lives of young people in Mecklenburg county and we are grateful for your generosity!
