About the Artist
Minneapolis-based artist, Peyton Scott Russell, joins the Frankfort community as the 2025 JSP Artist-in-Residence. He has a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and for over three decades has been a professional artist and arts instructor. In 1984, the film, Style Wars, introduced Peyton to graffiti art and the world of Hip-Hop. From that point forward, he has devoted his time and energy to graffiti art. Currently, Peyton is focused on his organization, SPRAYFiNGER®. His mission, in addition to his personal artistic practice, is to increase awareness of graffiti as a teachable fine art and to deepen the understanding of graffiti. SPRAYFiNGER® believes graffiti is an artistic act of disruption - of self-limitations, of creative boundaries, of the world around us - and that disruption sets us free. Peyton has engaged with individuals of all ages throughout Minnesota; North and South Dakota; Wisconsin; Kentucky; Kansas; Nevada; New York; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and Tel Aviv, Israel.
