Presented by Crispus Attucks Community Center

39th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast

Registration ends Friday, 01/08/2027 11:59pm EST

About This Event

On Monday, January 18, 2027, to celebrate the 39th annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast, we will welcome award-winning journalist and NPR political correspondent Ayesha Rascoe to share her thoughts on Dr. King's enduring impact and the continued fight for equity and justice. As we gather to honor Dr. King’s legacy, we will take time to reflect on the progress still needed to achieve the ideals he preached.

This year’s theme is “Building the Beloved Community.” For Dr. King, the Beloved Community was a vision for a society rooted in justice, equity, compassion, and mutual responsibility, where every person is valued and has the opportunity to thrive. Building that community is ongoing work. It asks each of us to look beyond ourselves, to recognize our shared humanity, and to consider how our choices, relationships, and actions can contribute to a more just and connected community.

The MLK Breakfast will feature vibrant performances, inspiring youth writing, and the presentation of the Essence of Humanity and Ruby Payne Cook awards, along with time for community connection and fellowship. We hope you'll join us!
