About This Event
What is CASA?
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) ensures that children in the Juvenile Abuse and Neglect Court system have courtroom advocacy and access to services and resources. CASA volunteers are the voice for children in the courtroom; reporting to the court and keeping the children’s needs and wishes at the forefront of pertinent decisions regarding their future.
What is CASAblanca - Dancing with the (Local) Stars?
CASAblanca is CASA of the Tenth Judicial Circuit’s primary fundraising event of the year! It is a fun-filled evening featuring a competition of local celebrities dancing with local dance instructors. Local celebrity judges will rate the dancers and then their scores, tallied with the audience votes, determine the Critics' Choice Award. The People's Choice Award is determined by funds raised by the dancers through sponsorships, ticket sales, Sponsor A Child pledges and votes designated to the dance couples. The event also features a marvelous menu of food and drink. After the dance competition, the dance floor is open so the audience can join in the dancing fun! Proceeds support the specially trained CASA volunteers who advocate for children in the Tenth Judicial Circuit (Peoria, Tazewell, Marshall, Putnam and Stark Counties) who have experienced abuse or neglect. Please consider supporting our mission by underwriting a portion of this event or purchasing tickets. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities and benefits or to secure your tickets, please call CASA at 309-669-2939 or email casa@peoriacounty.org.
Who benefits from the money raised at this event?
Children in the Tenth Judicial Circuit, who have experienced abuse or neglect, benefit from the funds raised at this event. By using trained, community volunteers, our organization provides an innovative, cost-effective solution to an urgent crisis in the juvenile justice and foster care system. Funds raised at CASAblanca help recruit and support our volunteers, grow our program and expand our advocacy for local children. The approximate cost (excluding in-kind contributions) to advocate for a child for a year is $1,800. You can make a difference in a child’s life today!
Additional Important Facts:
• Last Fiscal Year, CASA of the Tenth Judicial Circuit served 488 children. There are approximately1,500 pending abuse and neglect cases in the Tenth Judicial Circuit. The need is great!
• The number of children moving through the abuse and neglect courtroom is extremely high, but CASA is ready to recruit volunteers to advocate for these children, and needs funding to train, support and supervise their efforts.
