About This Event

For just a few short weeks of the year, the world’s largest stand of Rocky Shoals Spiderlilies put on a spectacular springtime show in the middle of the Catawba River! Don’t miss this opportunity to join a guided kayak through the breathtaking sea of giant white blooms. For those more comfortable on solid ground, we also have an option to enjoy them trail side on a guided hike.

Paddle: 2pm-6pm
Hike: 2pm-4pm

The paddle route is roughly 2 miles. We’ll take out just downstream from the spider lily stand where your kayak and gear will be shuttled back to the park while we hike 1.5 miles on a section of the Carolina Thread Trail through the historic canal ruins with views of the river through Landsford Canal State Park. The paddle will have small rapids in a shallow rocky environment.

All equipment is provided including kayak, oar and life vest.

What you should bring/wear:

  •  A full water bottle
  • Closed toed shoes
  • Clothes you don’t mind getting wet
  • We recommend bringing an extra change of clothes, towel, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and any important personal medications.
  • Drybags will be available for storing keys, medications, etc.

We can't wait to see you! Please email alesia@catawbalands.org with any questions.
