Tennessee requires 1,000 plate purchases before we can begin production. Each purchase gets us closer. Please read the details below before you start.
Before you begin
Have this information ready for the person registered on the vehicle, exactly as it appears on the vehicle's title or registration:
Full legal name
Mailing address
County of registration
Email address and phone number
If you're purchasing for someone else, you'll also enter your own name and email as the purchaser.
Please know
One form per plate. If you're purchasing for more than one vehicle, complete a separate form for each.
The vehicle must be registered in Tennessee and not used commercially. The plate is issued to the registered owner, who must pick it up at the county clerk's office.
The processing fee is required. Although you can edit the field on the form, it must remain at $1.40. If you remove or reduce it, your transaction will be voided, and your plate will not count toward the 1,000.
CBHS holds your payment until we reach 1,000 purchases. If we do not reach 1,000 by June 30, 2027, all transactions will be refunded.
You can't choose or reserve plate numbers. The State of Tennessee assigns them.
What happens next
You purchase. You'll receive a confirmation email.
We reach 1,000. CBHS submits the required purchaser information and payment to the Tennessee Department of Revenue.
Production. Production, testing, and distribution take approximately four to six months.
Pickup. The State of Tennessee will notify the registered owner when the plate is available at the county clerk's office.
