Oct. 15: Volunteer at Horse Lake - Bitterbrush Browse Protection

We need your help to protect bitterbrush plantings from hungry deer at Horse Lake! We will meet at Horse Lake Trailhead and will shuttle volunteers close to the restoration area where we will secure metal cages around the young plants.

Volunteer Work Party @ Kenzie's Landing

What: We will place metal cages around the young bitterbrush plants to protect them from being browsed on. We will hike a total of less than 1 mile.

Where: Horse Lake Trailhead

When: Tuesday, Oct. 15th from 9:00 - 12:00

Please bring clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and hiking/work shoes.

We will provide gloves and tools, as well as drinks and snacks. 

Additional Info: We will meet at Horse Lake trailhead and use CDLT vehicles to drive up the Horse Lake service road for about 10 minutes. There are bathrooms at the trailhead but not at the restoration site. We will hike less than 0.5 miles off trail to the planting area (please see map below). The ground will be uneven with a moderate incline. We will secure metal cages around individual young bitterbrush plantings as browse protection from deer. The work will be mildly strenuous with a moderately strenuous hike.
