3rd Annual Celebration of Queer Joy

About This Event

Join us during ASCO week in Chicago for an affirming evening of connection, community, and celebration as we kick off Pride Month at the Celebration of Queer Joy.

Hosted with pride by Paula Chambers Raney and powered by Fight CRC, the Colorectal Cancer Coalition, and The Cancer-Network, this special gathering brings together members of the LGBTQIA+ cancer community and their allies for an evening centered on belonging, resilience, and shared experience.

Now in its third year, Celebration of Queer Joy welcomes LGBTQIA+ cancer survivors, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, advocates, and allies during the ASCO Annual Meeting and at the start of Pride Month. The event creates a welcoming and inclusive space where individuals impacted by cancer can come together in community, share their experiences, and celebrate resilience.

In a field often focused on clinical outcomes, this gathering highlights the human side of cancer care — identity, belonging, and the importance of affirming spaces throughout the cancer journey. It offers a unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships across lived experiences and professional roles, strengthening partnerships that advance more inclusive and equitable care for all.

More than just an evening together, Celebration of Queer Joy is a reminder that care extends beyond medicine. It is emotional, social, and deeply human — and together, we honor the strength, visibility, and joy of the LGBTQIA+ cancer community.
