October Speaker Series: Kestrel Conservation on Local Landscapes

Our monthly Speaker Series is a fun way to connect with beginning farmers and anyone interested in agriculture and the environment. Each month, we focus on a different topic, highlighting some of the difference-makers in our region. Enjoy hot wood-fired pizzas, cold drinks, and great conversation on the third Wednesday of each month through October.

4:30-5:30 p.m. - pizza, drinks, and networking

5:30-7:00 p.m. - presentation and discussion

7:00-7:30 p.m. - more mingling

Join us this month to learn about kestrel conservation on local farms and other landscapes. Kestrels are California's smallest raptors, and a great ally in natural pest control on farms. These beautiful birds are facing a loss of habitat, so a local group of conservationists is working to ensure that this critical species can thrive. 

Is your landscape appropriate for a kestrel nesting box? The California Hawking Club will share what it takes to make your home a great home for kestrels, and UC Davis researchers discuss the many ecosystem services these little raptors offer. 

As a bonus, we'll enjoy live music by the band The Kestrels!
