Changing Lives One Recipe at a Time: Honoring the Legacy of Chef Jeff Bacon

Changing Lives One Recipe at a Time: Honoring the Legacy of Chef Jeff Bacon

Due to expected inclement weather

A NEW DATE HAS BEEN SET TO HONOR CHEF JEFF BACON

JANUARY 30  |  4:00PM - 6:00pm

For more than two decades, Chef Jeff Bacon has been an essential partner in advancing Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC’s work to create stronger, healthier, communities. Through his leadership in developing what began as Triad Community Kitchen and later grew into Providence, encompassing Culinary Training, Catering, and Social Enterprises, Chef Jeff led the creation of a nationally recognized model for transforming lives through food, opportunity, and support.

What started in a small corner of our warehouse has grown into a state-of-the-art teaching and production kitchen that has graduated more than 1,000 culinary students, many of whom overcame significant barriers on their path to stability and success. This evolution reflects Second Harvest’s belief that access to nutritious food is essential and that access to meaningful employment and community connection is life-changing. Chef Jeff’s vision helped bring that belief to life.

Under the Second Harvest's Providence umbrella, our Community Meals program expanded, entrepreneurial ventures were nurtured, and graduates found careers that strengthened families and neighborhoods across Northwest North Carolina. The ripple effects of this work continue to advance Second Harvest’s mission every day.

As Chef Jeff steps into retirement, we celebrate a legacy deeply intertwined with the Food Bank’s growth and impact - a legacy of nourishment, empowerment, and second chances that will continue to shape our work for years to come.
