About This Event
The Green Gala: Rebuilding Sanibel’s Green Spaces
Join us for an inspiring evening dedicated to restoring the lush, tropical landscapes that define Sanibel. The Green Gala supports a long-term, citizen-driven initiative to re-green public spaces by planting 50+ native trees and vegetation each year for the next 50 years—a living tribute to Sanibel’s 50th anniversary.
This initiative is led in partnership with the City of Sanibel, the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF), the Sanibel Natural Resources Department, and the Charitable Foundation of the Islands (CFI), working together to revitalize key corridors and public spaces. The first major project focuses on The Causeway Boulevard Corridor, the iconic entryway to the island, where new native plantings will help restore the welcoming, sub-tropical landscape lost after Hurricane Ian.
The evening includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres followed by a special screening of On Sanibel: The Hurricane Diaries, created by Councilwoman Laura DeBruce. The film chronicles Sanibel before and after the storm—highlighting the strength, resiliency, and spirit of the island community.
Whether you attend or support from afar, your generosity will help re-green Sanibel for generations to come.
