Leaf Casting: From Garden to Art

About This Event

Leaf Casting: From Garden to Art

Tuesday, October 6 & Wednesday, October 7

10am- 12:00pm

This is a two-day workshop. Participants must attend both days to complete their project

Turn the beauty and intricate texture of a favorite garden leaf into a lasting piece of art. Join former HORT Board Member Joan Berry-Warder for a two-day, hands-on leaf casting workshop where participants will learn how to capture the shape, texture, and detailed veining of a real leaf in a decorative cast.

Over the course of both mornings, Joan will guide participants through the casting process from start to finish, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece inspired by the garden. Finished castings can be left in their natural form or painted afterward to add color and bring out the leaf’s intricate details, making each piece uniquely your own.

What to Bring

Participants should bring a couple of leaf options with prominent veining on the back so there is flexibility when selecting a leaf for the project. Good options include colocasia, hosta, elephant ear, oakleaf hydrangea, rhubarb, and other substantial, highly textured leaves.

Have more leaves than you need? Bring extras to share with fellow participants! If you don't have access to suitable leaves, please let The HORT know in advance and we'll help arrange one for you

Member price: $90 //Non-members: $100

A Note About Member Pricing

Member pricing is a benefit of current HORT membership. Please select the ticket price that accurately reflects your membership status. If you are not currently a member and would like to take advantage of member pricing, we invite you to join or renew before registering.
