About This Event
Establishing Trees in Your Landscape w/Greg Holthaus from Davey Resource Group
Wednesday, March 18th, 10 am - 11 am
Park West Recreational Fields
Planting the right tree in the right place takes a little planning, a bit of know-how, and yes, a lot of work! Join us for an informative and practical how-to presentation with Greg Holthaus of Davey Resource Group as he guides homeowners through the most common challenges of tree planting and establishment in the Lowcountry.
As part of this workshop, we’ll also explore the importance of thoughtful tree placement to support long-term canopy growth. Our goal is to plant several trees around the parking lot area to help the Mount Pleasant Tree Task Force advance its vision for tree canopy preservation while reducing the parking lot’s heat island effect. Participants will learn how proper planning and installation directly contribute to healthier landscapes and cooler, more sustainable community spaces.
Greg will cover key topics, including site selection, choosing the right tree for the right location, proper planting techniques, soil amendments, staking decisions, trunk protection, and post-planting watering and care. You’ll leave with practical tips and best practices to help new trees establish successfully and thrive in our unique coastal growing conditions.
Give your next tree its best possible start. Join us in Park West!
CHS Member price: $25 //Non-members: $35
Please note that workshop registrations are non-refundable. We appreciate your understanding, as your spot helps us plan and provide the best possible experience for all attendees.
Thank you for supporting our programs and helping us grow together!
