Power the Prevention
At Millersville University’s Center for Health Education and Promotion (CHEP), we believe that prevention saves lives, protects futures, and strengthens our campus community. Power the Prevention is our fundraising campaign dedicated to expanding wellness education, harm-reduction programming, and mental health support for all Marauders.
Together, we can create a campus culture where students don’t just survive—they thrive.
Join us and Power the Prevention today.
Mental Health Matters | Tuesday, Sept. 9
Interactive tabling event to help students prioritize ongoing mental health/wellbeing and prevent suicide. Tables will have an educational activity for students to complete as well as resources/services and mental health information. Our goal is to raise awareness about Mental Health and empower students to take action in positive mental health behaviors. Students will learn warning signs to watch out for in their peers and how to help someone they are concerned about. Mental health screenings (depression and anxiety) will also take place with students being referred to supportive services (MU Counseling Center and Health Services).
Homecoming Pre-Party | Thursday, Oct. 2
The Homecoming Pre-Party is an interactive resource fair to educate students about alcohol and other drug prevention and harm reduction strategies. We want students to have a safe homecoming they can remember! Students will be provided with education and resources to make smart decisions throughout the weekend festivities. The event will be school spirit and tailgate themed with yard games set up for students.
Purple Carnival | Thursday, Oct. 23
The Purple Carnival is an interactive resource fair designed as a carnival to educate the campus community about healthy relationships. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, with domestic violence comes several other topics that we would like to bring attention to including affirmative consent, sexual assault, reporting options and supportive services.
Fall Into Wellness Fair | Wednesday, Nov. 12
The Fall Into Wellness Fair educates the campus community about various topics relating to the different dimensions of wellness by providing resources and education through interactive activities. Our goal is to educate students, faculty and staff on MU's 9 dimensions of wellness: emotional, physical, environmental, spiritual, financial, occupational, intellectual, social and intercultural.
CHEP’s mission is to empower students to make informed decisions, adopt healthy coping strategies, and thrive in every dimension of wellness. Through your support, we can:
Prevent substance misuse by equipping students with harm-reduction strategies and safer alternatives.
Promote healthy relationships by educating students about consent, safer sex practices, and bystander intervention.
Strengthen mental health by expanding awareness of campus counseling services, teaching coping skills, and addressing stigma around seeking help.
Engage students in well-being through hands-on workshops, campus-wide initiatives, and partnerships with peer educators.
Every dollar fuels prevention—helping CHEP offer innovative programs, peer-led outreach, and resources that ensure students feel connected, supported, and ready to succeed.
