Ruth was PASSIONATE about excellence, quality, and about upholding our Silver Cross promise to treat people the way they should be treated. During her six-year tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer, Ruth’s visionary leadership earned Silver Cross national recognition for safety, quality and experience as evidenced by its 100 Top Hospitals ranking 11 times, a 5-Star Rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and 17 Straight A’s for Safety from the Leapfrog Group. She was a driving force in transforming Silver Cross from a community hospital to a regional medical center and nationally recognized healthcare brand. It is for these reasons we will honor her with this year's Sehring Medal of Excellence.
Childerguild, is a philanthropic group founded in 1910 by a group of 13 benevolent women who could not have children of their own but wanted to support obstetric and pediatric services at Silver Cross Hospital.
Today, we are over 60 members strong and continue to welcome new members who share our mission to support ALL services for women, infants and children served by our hospital.
Childerguild raises funds through sales in our beautiful Gift Shop located in the hospital’s main lobby, trunk shows outside the Seasons Dining Room, as well as proceeds from our annual Ball.
We are extremely proud to have donated over 6.4 million dollars to the Silver Cross Foundation, including $555,000 this year alone, which funded:
Past year donations funded 2 Neighborhoods in the Amy, Matthew and Jay Vana Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Each neighborhood includes 12 patient rooms and the nurse care station.
