At this live virtual event sponsored by the Global Satellite Friendship Circle, author Deborah Chandler will speak on what she has learned after years of working closely with Mayan women in Guatemala, and specifically, Mayan weavers. Her talk will be followed by discussion/Q & A with attendees.
Deborah is a weaver, weaving instructor, and author who has lived in Guatemala for 26 years. She is the co-founder of Weave a Real Peace (WARP) and was country director of Mayan Hands for nine years; these organizations support indigenous weavers and fair trade sales of their products worldwide. She's the author of several books focused on Guatemala and traditional textiles including Traditional Weavers of Guatemala: Their Stories, Their Lives.
