Meet at the ABG Visitor's Center (Indoor Class)
Is your late August garden feeling overwhelming? Are you looking for some order within the chaos? Ecological garden management asks us to stop and ask ourselves what it means for a garden to be beautiful. Can we foster habitat for pollinators and have a tidy yard? This class will empower you with the practical knowledge and the cultural theory necessary to approach your ecological garden with confidence. We will assess garden tasks by season and come to understand ways we can engage with our landscapes earlier on to achieve our goals all year round.
Instructor: Jenny Luczak is a professional gardener with 18 years of landscaping experience in both New York City and Western North Carolina. She studied garden design, horticulture, and speciality pruning techniques, including topiary, speciality pruning and native plants at the New York Botanical Garden from 2010 to 2014 and worked at Holly, Wood + Vine, a premier fine gardening and landscape firm in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Her botanical interests include Eastern US native plants, seasonal container gardens, and holiday greenery displays. She is well-versed in a range of garden styles, from formal and structured mixed perennial plantings, to wild flower gardens, native landscapes and urban design.
Jenny relocated to the mountains of Western North Carolina in 2014. She worked as a lead gardener and plant buyer for B.B. Barns before launching her own landscaping company, Green Truck Gardens in 2017.
