Coastal Restoration Roadshow - Morgan City

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana is excited to have you join us at Bayou
Vista Community Center on May 20! We will be talking about our restoration
programs and how residents can propose restoration projects in the Morgan City
area.

In April, CRCL and its volunteers constructed a living shoreline at Morgan
Harbor Pass in St. Bernard Parish, in partnership with the Chitimacha Tribe of
Louisiana, and with support from many community partners. This project included the creation of an oyster reef that will slow the rate of land loss and the planting of thousands of mangroves, which send roots into
the ground to help anchor the soil.

Projects like this can be replicated elsewhere across Louisiana’s coast.

At CRCL's Coastal Restoration Roadshow, you will learn from the CRCL team about
the causes of coastal land loss and how Louisiana is tackling them, including
information about the Morgan Harbor Pass living shoreline. After the
presentation, we will hold group discussions to hear from residents about their
experiences with coastal land loss and its impacts within our
communities and to discuss restoration priorities for the area.
