About This Event

This is a registration form to collect information for those interested in the Youth Mental Health First Aid In-Person training on Wednesday, March 18th from 9:00 am- 3:00 pm at the Community Advocates Downtown Office located on 728 N. James Lovell, Milwaukee, WI 53233. Learners will complete a two hour, self paced online learning component before the training and participate in a 6-hour, instructor-led online training on March 18th. Deadline to register is March 13th at noon. 

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who might be experiencing a mental health challenge or is in crisis. 

Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur.

The training will be hosted by YMHFA Certified Instructor Cecilia Eva Tenorio, Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator at Community Advocates Public Policy Institute. For any additional questions or if you would like to set up a meeting to discuss details and logistics of the training.
