Family Boogie classes are designed for toddlers through preschool age kids plus a grown up. But new babies up to elementary age siblings are all welcome to join the fun. Kids of any age who want to be silly and have fun dancing really should be in this class!
These are not your ordinary dance classes. In addition to being welcoming to ALL, these classes will incorporate emotional regulation tips, meaningful connection across generations, fun and uplifting music, and movement games that will help grown ups find your inner child and everyone find their creative flow. All hearts will be warmed with joyful movement!
Join us for a single class or both classes. Inclusive and intergenerational - just like our dance company! All ages and abilities are welcome & no prior dance experience is needed. Bring grandparents, moms, dads, siblings (only $5 per sibling/extra kid!), cousins, aunts, uncles, friends & neighbors!
These classes are tons of fun and full of opportunities to JOYFULLY connect grown ups with their kiddos through fun boogieing!

Our CommUnity Classes are financially inclusive too - with Sliding Scale tutition and full scholarships!

What to Expect
As we said before, Open Arms CommUnity Classes, including the Family Boogie class, are not ordinary dance classes. This is because they are taught by our Artistic Director, Megan Brandel. She received a Governor's Award in the Arts in 2022, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Modern Dance choreography and performance, and has trained extensively in Integrated Dance, yoga, meditation, and studied Elementary and Special Education. To enrich her teaching of all ages and abilities of dancers, she has trained in Brain-Compatible Dance Education with Anne Green Gilbert (2012), Integrated Dance with Jurg Koch (2013), the Dance for Parkinson's Disease program (2014), the AXIS Dance Company Integrated Dance Summer Intensive (2016), an adaptive dance teacher training by Boston Ballet (2019), and the BOISE Viewpoints & Suzuki trainings (2022-present).
