About This Event

Open Arms CommUNITY Classes!

  • Saturdays 1/11, 1/18, and 1/25
  • Classes for ALL Ages
    • 10am: Tiny Tots Dance-a-Lot (birth - age 5yrs)
    • 11am: CommUNITY Class (age 6-106 years young)
  • $12-20 - Sliding scale tuition - pay what you can!
  • TRICA, 1406 Eastman St., Boise, ID 83702

Inclusive and intergenerational - just like our dance company! All ages and abilities are welcome & no prior dance experience is needed. Bring grandparents, moms & dads, siblings, cousins, aunts & uncles, friends, neighbors, or come solo!

These classes are tons of fun and full of opportunities to JOYFULLY connect with eachother and your own love of movement. Plus, we’re hosting these classes in the beautiful dance space our friends at TRICA have created!

Sliding Scale Tuition

Our CommUnity Classes are financially inclusive too - with Sliding Scale tutition and full scholarships!

-One class ticket includes: [1 Adult + 1 Child] or [1 solo Adult/Teen]

-Bringing more than one kiddo? Great! Just add $5 per additional child

-If the full amount of $20/class doesn't work for you, simply use promo code "SlidingScale" with the amount between 12-19 that you are able to pay. If you want to pay $18, then use the code "SlidingScale18," etc.

We ask that you pay an amount that is both sustainable for your own finances and for the continued operation of Open Arms Dance Project.

Are you a student, artist, school teacher, veteran, parent with a single income, a senior, or just need to pay a little less? Please use the sliding scale in an amount that works for you!

If you are able to, we greatly appreciate you paying the full amount and supporting the work and mission of our non-profit!

Need a full scholarship? We've got you covered! Just email: openarmsdanceproject@gmail.com with a brief statement of need.

What to Expect

Open Arms CommUnity Classes are not ordinary dance classes. In addition to being welcoming to ALL, these classes will incorporate emotional regulation tips, meaningful connection across generations, fun and uplifting music, and movement games that will help you find your inner child and your creative flow. Your heart will be warmed by movement and joy!

Our Artistic Director, Megan Brandel, leads classes. She received a Governor's Award in the Arts in 2022, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Modern Dance choreography and performance, and has trained extensively in Integrated Dance, yoga instruction, and studied Elementary and Special Education. To enrich her teaching of all ages and abilities of dancers, she has trained in Brain-Compatible Dance Education with Anne Green Gilbert (2012), Integrated Dance with Jurg Koch (2013), the Dance for Parkinson's Disease program (2014), the AXIS Dance Company Integrated Dance Summer Intensive (2016), an adaptive dance teacher training by Boston Ballet (2019), and the BOISE Viewpoints & Suzuki trainings (2022-present).
