Join us for a Sneak Peek of Wolfpen Loop, a section of the future Wilderness Gateway State Trail.
Meet at Lucky Strike Campground (251 Lucky Strike Dr, Marion, NC 28752) by 9:45 am. Due to limited parking at the Wolfpen Loop Trailhead, we will meet at Lucky Strike Campground so we can carpool and shuttle to the trailhead (approximately a 3 minute drive up the road). Plenty of parking is available at Lucky Strike. Shuttles will leave at 10:00 am.
Guided Naturalist Meander: Wander through the forest on this sneak peak of Wolfpen Loop with an eye for the incredible natural phenomena of our Foothills region. This guided walk on the trail will cover less than 2 miles total. Frequent stops & slower pace are built in to discover the biodiversity and ecology that surrounds our newest trail.
Recreation Hike: Join the FCNC Trails Team on a 2-hour hike through a section of Wolfpen Loop. Get a feel for the terrain and topography as we cover up to 4 miles of distance on this out-and-back sneak peak of Foothills Conservancy's newest trail. This will be a quicker pace to cover as much distance as possible in the allotted time and FCNC staff will share information about the trail while hiking.
Both the Guided Naturalist Meander and Recreation Hike will finish around 12:00 noon and head back to Lucky Strike Camp Ground for lunch*.
