Presented by Homeward Bound of Marin

Public Class: A World of Dumplings with Chef Nicolas Abrams

Registration ends Thursday, 02/11/2027 5:00pm PST

About This Event

Who can resist a delicious dumpling? Found in kitchens across the globe, these little parcels are made from dough, grains, or even potatoes, and wrapped around sweet or savory fillings. They can be boiled, steamed, baked, or fried. Most disappear in just a couple of bites, yet each one packs a pocketful of flavor. Pair them with the right condiment or sauce, and you get a delicious global balance of contrast and harmony. Join us to explore recipes and techniques for dumplings from around the world.

What You'll Learn and Taste:

  • Learn skills for filling, folding, and pleating dumplings.
  • Taste savory Polish pierogi, Chinese bao, South Asian samosas and more
  • Close with a classic American apple dumpling.

About the instructor: Chef Nicolas has worked in fine dining, as Culinary Director at Rustic Bakery and Executive Chef at Hilltop 1892. During the pandemic, he opened a four-year labor of love with Ethel's Bagels in Petaluma. Today he leads on-the-job training for culinary graduates as Homeward Bound's Teaching Chef.

Reservations close Feb. 11, 2027.

*We are not able to accommodate dietary requests for hands-on events. Please read the menu carefully and contact us with any questions at events@hbofm.org.
