Public Class: Bread Baking for Beginners with Chef Dave Leyva

Registration ends Friday, 03/26/2027 5:00pm PST

About This Event

With a little planning, some careful measuring and a bit of time, you can reward minimal efforts with bakery-quality payoff! The miracle transformation from dough to Staff of Life is the subject of this fun and hands-on class. Discover how mixing, fermenting, and baking turns a few simple ingredients into an irresistible creation. You will leave with skills to start producing your own daily bread.

What You'll Learn and Taste:

  • Learn simple but critical steps to mix, proof, shape and bake
  • Make traditional Focaccia, soft and fluffy Japanese Milk Bread and golden, perfectly braided Challah

About the instructor: Chef Dave Leyva worked as chef and pastry chef in several notable restaurants before starting his journey as an instructor in the Wine Country. He has taught and mentored rising chefs at The Culinary Institute of America, Copia and the original Williams-Sonoma store. At the Gilardi Training and Events Center, Dave now takes pride in leading our Community Teaching Kitchen.

Reservations close March 26, 2027.

*We are not able to accommodate dietary requests for hands-on events. Please read the menu carefully and contact us with any questions at events@hbofm.org.
