About This Event
From Robert Louis Stevenson to Herman Melville, it seems writers of seagoing tales find themselves splashing their stories with rum. Renowned author Ernest Hemingway wasn't shy about sharing his passion for rum, especially his love for a good Mojito. Our adventurous evening will be led by celebrity bartender Jeff Burkhart, an author himself, with the unique products from our sponsor, Batiste Rhum. Along with a Mojito, you'll cover the making of a Daiquiri and a Mai Tai to master the top three rum cocktails in the world.
What You’ll Make and Taste:
• Craft 3 different cocktails with Batiste Rhum
• Enjoy each cocktail with a uniquely paired appetizer
About the Instructor: Jeff Burkhart has been behind bars for 30+ years as a local mixologist. An expert on spirits and their histories, he writes the weekly “Barfly” column in the Marin Independent Journal. He also has authored two books that share tales of people he meets over the bar.
About our Sponsor: Batiste Rhum is a sustainable craft brand that produces rhum agricole — rum made from fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses. Founded by Marin native Tristan Mermin, it is grown and distilled on the French Caribbean island of Marie‑Galante and aged or finished in California.
Reservations close March 31, 2027.
*We are not able to accommodate dietary requests for hands-on events. Please read the menu carefully and contact us with any questions at events@hbofm.org.
