About This Event
Enjoy the authentic experience of crafting one of the most sought-after foods in Mexican cuisine -- tamales! A hallmark of the holiday season, tamales are a special treat with a balance of bright and earthy flavors. Chef Luis Realpozo will share the culinary lineage of masa and nixtamal, then lead you to prepare dough and add fillings. Along the way, you'll talk about traditional Mexican methods and salsa preparation.

About the Instructor: A native of Mexico’s Yucatan region, Chef Luis helped open the longstanding Taco Jane’s restaurant in San Anselmo. He has worked more than 20 years as a chef at Homeward Bound, now leading the kitchen serving daily meals at our largest shelter. He also has presented several culinary events featuring chocolate, an ancient ingredient in Mexican cuisine.
