About This Event
April 23, 2026 | 9:00am - 12:00 noon | Virtual training via Zoom
Join us for an interactive workshop designed for nonprofit professionals who want to more deeply align their advocacy efforts with their mission while centering the voices of the communities they serve. This session will equip participants with tools, strategies, and real-world scenarios to strengthen constituent engagement in civic participation that advances organizational goals and community-driven change.
Grounded in the belief that effective advocacy starts with those closest to the issues, this workshop explores how nonprofits can move beyond service delivery to actively engage constituents as partners in shaping priorities, goals, and solutions. Participants will learn how to authentically involve constituents in advancing goals through activities such as voter engagement, community education, storytelling, organizing, and policy advocacy.
Participants will gain practical strategies to help facilitate this shift, including how to:
-
Align advocacy efforts with your organization’s mission and values
-
Engage constituents as active participants in policy efforts and civic life
-
Support leadership development and create pathways for constituents to influence decision-making
-
Use evaluation tools to guide learning, measure impact, and strengthen strategies over time
-
Identify realistic, incremental steps that contribute to long-term systems change
Participants will reflect on their current approach and identify opportunities to more fully integrate constituent voice into their work. Whether your organization is just beginning to explore advocacy or is looking to deepen its civic engagement strategy, this workshop will provide actionable tools and a clear framework for aligning your mission with community-led decision making—and advancing lasting, equitable social change.
Trainer: Monica DeWitt, Education Specialist, Community Resource Center
