Effective nonprofit boards play a critical role in ensuring organizations remain mission-driven, legally compliant, financially healthy, and strategically focused. This introductory training provides nonprofit leaders and board members with a foundational understanding of nonprofit governance and the essential responsibilities of nonprofit boards.
Designed for new and emerging board members, executive directors, and nonprofit staff who support boards, this session explores the legal and fiduciary duties of nonprofit boards, clarifies the distinct roles of boards and staff leadership, and introduces practical governance tools that support effective oversight and decision-making.
Participants will engage in guided reflection and discussion while accessing practical templates and governance resources that can be adapted within their own organizations.
By the end of this training, participants will:
Understand the core legal, fiduciary, and governance responsibilities of nonprofit boards
Review practical tools and structures that support effective board governance
Reflect on opportunities to strengthen governance practices within their own organizations
To encourage board and staff participation from an organization, each ticket allows all members of an organization (board members and staff) to watch the recording together for one price.
