Presented by Musicians of Ma'alwyck

Wine, Food & Music Triptych: Portugal

About This Event

Friday, March 27 | Woman's Club of Albany | 6:00pm

Musicians of Ma’alwyck will host a Portuguese-themed Triptych in collaboration with the Woman’s Club of Albany, a nineteenth century architectural gem in New York’s capital city, and a longtime collaborator with the ensemble.

The musical portion will feature Francisco António de Almeida’s cantata A quell’ leggiadro volto, as well as an aria from John Philip Sousa’s (born in America in 1854 but of Portuguese descent) infrequently performed opera, Desirée. Guest soprano Vedrana Kalas will join Musicians of Ma’alwyck core musicians to share this salon-style and immersive cultural experience.

Musicians of Ma’alwyck’s Wine & Music Triptychs are intimate evenings themed around a specific cultural heritage, featuring delicious wines selected by sommelier Josh Turo paired with small plates of culinary delights, with live music between courses. These events highlight lesser-known historic chamber works from around the globe that local audiences may not be familiar with. A selection of past Triptychs have explored cultural traditions from Romania, Spain, and the Netherlands. Held three times each season, these exclusive evenings have become very popular among Musicians of Ma’alwyck’s returning and new audiences, and have consistently sold out.

Tickets: $150 per person
