This training offers a comprehensive overview of Connecticut's Paid Leave program (CTPL) and its application for survivors of sexual violence.

Background: Signed into law on May 9, 2024, SB 222 expands the state's family violence leave law to include victims of sexual violence, providing them with up to 12 days of unpaid leave per year to attend to medical, psychological, legal, and logistical needs related to the assault. Survivors can now also receive income replacement benefits through CTPL when taking leave from work.

Advocates attending this training will gain essential knowledge and practical skills to support survivors through the CTPL application process. Topics covered will include:

  • Eligibility & Coverage: Understand who qualifies for CTPL benefits.
  • Qualifying Reasons for Leave & Leave Schedules: Learn about the various reasons for leave and how to navigate leave schedules.
  • Navigating the Application Process & Filing Claims: Step-by-step guidance on assisting survivors with filing claims and completing applications.
  • Accessing Technical Assistance: Learn how to connect with the Alliance for ongoing support and resources.
