BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)
The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
After successful completion of the course, students will receive a course completion card that is valid for 2 years.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?
The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.
Examples of who should take BLS CPR: healthcare providers, first responders, staff from dentist’s offices, nursing homes, and childcare providers.
Not a healthcare provider, but want to learn these life-saving skills? Check out the American Heart Association HeartSaver Class options here!
WHAT DOES THIS COURSE TEACH?
- High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
- Important early use of an AED
- Effective ventilations using a barrier device
- Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
- Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
Reminder: You will recieve your CPR card via email upon successful completion of the course. It may take 2-3 weeks to receive your card.
Low Enrollment: If a class has fewer than three participants, we will contact you to reschedule your class to a later date.
Refunds and Rescheduling:
- With at least 24-hour notice, you may choose between a refund (minus a 10% processing fee) or a complimentary class reschedule.
- If notice is provided less than 24 hours before the class, refunds are not available, but you are eligible for one complimentary class reschedule.
- You will not be eligible for a refund if you cancel a rescheduled class or request to cancel after the scheduled class date.
