About This Event

Whether you’re a hunter, a birder or someone who simply enjoys the wildlife of our coast, you’ll want to join the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana on January 8, 2026, at the SEED Center in Lake Charles. Paul Link, a research program manager with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries at Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge, will share what new movement ecology research is revealing about the ducks and geese we see each winter.
Link will present updates on projects tracking white-fronted geese, snow geese, blue-winged teal, northern pintails and more. You’ll hear where these birds travel and what habitats and conditions they prefer while they’re in coastal Louisiana. Discover why the habitat protection and restoration happening across the region matters for migration, hunting success and the long-term health of our waterfowl populations.
This free public lecture is hosted by CRCL with support from the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance. Complimentary drinks and light bites will be provided. Timing for the event is as follows:
6 p.m. Doors open
6:30 p.m. Presentation begins
7:15 p.m. Audience Q&A
