About This Event
August 31st: What’s Their Line? A Dialogue Workshop for Emerging Playwrights
Sarah Weynard
The most memorable stage performances depend on actors’ relationships with dialogue, using rhythm, tension, and action to move the story forward. Rich and meaningful dialogue shapes how actors and audience members perceive the characters and their stakes. In this 90-minute workshop, playwrights of all levels of experience will examine effective strategies and exercises for crafting actionable, authentic exchanges between characters. By the end of the writing session, playwrights will emerge with a range of tools to develop their characters through spoken word, strengthen their dialogue rhythm, and revise their current projects.
Sarah Weynand (she/her) is a poet, theatre artist, and certified English (7-12) educator. She holds a B.A. in English Literature and B.F.A-level training in musical theatre from Wilkes University. After moving to Connecticut, she earned her M.F.A. in Creative Writing and M.A.T. in English Education at Southern Connecticut State University. She is committed to creating accessible and empowering strategies for writers and artists at every stage.
Workshop is limited to 12 participants, so be sure to register now! Writers at all levels are welcome to attend.
$30 gets you 90 minutes of instruction in the Workshop Gallery at Ball & Socket Arts. If cost presents a barrier to your participation, please reach out to our team for options at info@ballandsocket.org.
