About This Event
August 4th: Imagery and the Senses with Jason Labbe
The most captivating poems often create new worlds in our minds. A poem can be a portal to a time and place where all is possible: hyperdetailed, three-dimensional, and in full color. Poets engage a reader's imagination by presenting the physical world in images. In this workshop, we will explore how poetic language does more than represent the world—it shapes new realities and renders the ordinary extraordinary.
Jason Labbe lives in Bethany and is the author of two books of poetry, Maps for Jackie and Spleen Elegy. His poems, essays, and reviews have appeared in Poetry, Conjunctions, VOLT, Denver Quarterly, Colorado Review, The Brooklyn Rail, A Public Space, and many other journals. He teaches writing at the University of Connecticut and Southern Connecticut State University. You can learn more about him and read some of his work at jasonlabbe.info.
Workshop is limited to 12 participants, so be sure to register now! Writers at all levels are welcome to attend.
$30 gets you 90 minutes of instruction in the Workshop Gallery at Ball & Socket Arts. If cost presents a barrier to your participation, please reach out to our team for options at info@ballandsocket.org.
