About This Event

Women of Action Brunch
Honoring Robin Bennett Kanarek

Turning Tragedy into Strength

Join us at this ICRF inaugural event celebrating a leader in our community who has channeled the grief from an immense loss into a courageous campaign to help others. Robin has devoted her life to support everyone affected by life-threatening conditions — patients, caregivers and families, and medical professionals. Through her compassionate work and endless dedication, Robin exemplifies the true meaning of a woman of action.

Robin Bennett Kanarek
2024 Women of Action Honoree

Robin was a registered nurse working with patients with chronic medical conditions, when her 10-year-old son, David, was diagnosed with leukemia. Despite enduring grueling treatments, he died at the age of 15. This tragedy led Robin to realize how often medical professionals overlook critical psychological, emotional, and spiritual support for people with life-threatening illnesses.

Robin has made it her mission to educate the public. She is the author of Living Well with a Serious Illness, a practical guide for understanding how palliative care can improve the quality of life for patients and their caregivers.

Additional Information

Robin's book, Living Well with a Serious Illness, will be available for sale. There will be a raffle and shopping featuring Lauren Hope Jewelry. Please note that this is a dairy brunch. Kosher options are available from the restaurant Six Thirteen if requested by June 17th.

For additional information, please contact David Kweskin at david.kweskin@icrfonline.org or 347.503.1636.
