Howard Tigelaar will present "Cultivating Change: How Equipment Evolutions Transformed Lives in a Local Dutch Community." He has written a book describing the small Dutch farming community and the farm where he grew up. During this talk he will share what his family’s dairy farm business was like in 1950 and how changing technology in the following couple of decades shaped the lives of farming families.

Howard Tigelaar was awarded a BS in Chemistry from Hope College in 1967 and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Illinois in 1973.  He spent most of his professional career at Texas Instruments managing groups of engineers and technicians developing manufacturing flows for next generation integrated circuit chips. He authored a book “How Transistor Area Shrank by 1 Million Fold”,  and is coauthor on 40 journal articles and author or coauthor on 70 patents.
