🎙 Emcee Scott Reister guiding the evening
✨ A silent auction with unique experiences and offerings
Across Iowa, refugee families are navigating fear, uncertainty, and a climate of hostility — even as they work hard to build stable, contributing lives in our communities. At Des Moines Refugee Support, we believe the measure of a community is how it treats its most vulnerable neighbors.
The Longer Table is our invitation to do more.
Now in its third year, this annual fundraising dinner brings together business leaders, community members, and advocates who believe that opportunity shouldn't stop at the border of someone's origin. Every dollar raised supports critical programs that move the needle, from getting kids enrolled in school and onto the soccer field, to helping women build income at local farmers markets, to ensuring 2,000+ children have backpacks, clothes, and health checks before the school year begins.
What your support makes possible:
- Refugee students enrolled in school and transported there every single day
- 150+ youth playing soccer, maintaining strong grades, and earning college scholarships — 12 in 2025 alone
- 100+ kids attending summer and day camps, many for the very first time
- Refugee women selling at farmers markets, keeping every dollar they earn
- Thousands of children served through free stores and community events each year
This is not charity. It's community. Join us at the table.
