About This Event

Lions & Rabbits Center for the Arts invites you to participate in STILL HERE: Rooted in Place, Emerging in Public Portrait and Storytelliing Session!

On June 22-24th, we are hosting a dedicated portrait and storytelling session where cancer survivors and family ambassadors are invited to have their portraits taken and share their stories as part of this meaningful installation.

These portraits will become part of a two year project, long term installation display in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood, transforming the CPA Building (2411 14th St Detroit, MI 48216) into a living gallery of visibility, healing, and community connection.

Event Details

📅 Date: June 22-24th, 2026
Time: Headshot slots will take place between 9-1 PM, 4:30-7PM, 9-12 PM

What to Expect

  • Getting a new professional headshot by local photographer Lamar Dupree
  • Sit down with the Lions & Rabbits team and tell your story 
  • A chance to be featured in a large-scale public art installation

What to Wear:

  • Whatever makes you feel comfortable. These headshots will be given to you to keep so maximize it and shine as your unique self 

Why Participate

  • Your portrait will be painted by a local artist and featured in a long-term public installation.
  • This is an opportunity to share your story, be part of something lasting, and connect with the creatives helping bring this project to life.
