Dorothy & Jack Grant.JPG

Contributions to this endowed scholarship are made in memory of Dorothy A. Grant. Dorothy taught English as a COLLS Collegiate Skills professor from 1986 until she officially retired in March 2021.  She and her late husband, John W. Grant, fondly known as Jack, were longtime supporters of the Schoolcraft College Foundation and are recognized as members of the Bell Tower and Henry Rowe Schoolcraft (HRS) giving societies. They started a named scholarship fund in 2017 and laid the groundwork for an endowed fund in 2019.

Dorothy strongly believed in the value of education and will be remembered as an advocate for Lifelong Learning. She earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and additional baccalaureate studies at San Jose College in California. She then earned a master's degree from Wayne State University and a second master's from Eastern Michigan University.

Born in Detroit, Professor Grant taught in Michigan, California, Connecticut, and Europe. She avidly traveled the world, circumnavigating the globe and visiting locations such as the Antarctic, Alaska, Easter Island, Greenland, and Iceland, among numerous others.

On behalf of the family and the Schoolcraft College Foundation, we express our gratitude for your generous donation in memory of Dorothy.

Checks should be made out to the Schoolcraft College Foundation and mailed to 18600 Haggerty Rd, Livonia, MI 48152.  Please write "Dorothy Grant Memorial" on the memo line.
