Over the weekend, Doss arrived at Texas Humane Heroes in critical condition.

At just 11 months old, he weighed only 5.8 pounds. Doss had a Body Condition Score (BCS) of just 1.5 out of 9, indicating severe emaciation. He was so severely emaciated he couldn't even lift his head or stand. Too weak to move, he had developed painful sores after being unable to get up for far too long.

Before he came to us, Doss was found abandoned in a field in a very dangerous area. Alone, starving, and unable to help himself, he had been left with little chance of surviving.

His condition was so critical that our medical team began providing treatment immediately upon arrival and begin lifesaving treatment.

Today, Doss is receiving carefully monitored nutrition, fluids, pain management, and around-the-clock veterinary care. Every meal, every treatment, and every ounce he gains is a step toward the life he deserves.
