About This Event

"This 15-week course is designed for caregivers who want to better understand and support communication, whether your loved one uses speech, augmentative and alternative Communication (AAC), or a combination of both. This course is grounded in Down syndrome communication research but is open to caregivers of individuals with any diagnosis. All ages, communication levels, and AAC modalities are welcome.
Many factors can affect how clearly someone communicates, including differences in speech sound production, voice quality, prosody, and motor planning (such as apraxia). This course explores the research behind these challenges and what they mean for everyday communication, including when and how AAC can play a powerful supporting role.
Each 45-minute session combines research, practical strategies, and hands-on AAC activities to help you grow your confidence as a communication partner at home and in the community.
