"A supportive group for parents of young children with Down syndrome to connect, share experiences, and learn together. This group is designed for families navigating the early years, from pregnancy to toddlerhood. Each 45-minute session gives children time to play with their peers while parents get a mix of learning, real conversation, and community building.
Sessions weave together topics specific to Down syndrome alongside the DIR/Floortime framework, which explores the developmental foundations for communication and social-emotional development. Some weeks lean more into the research and what we know about early development for babies and toddlers with Down syndrome. Others open up space to talk through the experiences that so many families in this group share, such as NICU stays, navigating feeding, processing early medical news, understanding hypotonia, and figuring out early intervention.
What to Expect:
-Children engage in a nurturing play environment with peers.
-Parents learn to recognize the small but powerful steps towards communication.
-A mix of research-informed content and space to talk, share, and build community"
