About the Durham Symphony
Founded in 1976, the Durham Symphony Orchestra has become one of the Triangle's premier performing arts organizations, enriching the cultural life of Durham and the surrounding region through exceptional performances, educational outreach, and community engagement.
The DSO presents affordable and free concerts throughout the year in a variety of community venues. Programming spans the breadth of orchestral literature, from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary works, Broadway, jazz, film music, and premieres by emerging composers. The orchestra is committed to presenting works by American composers, composers of color, women, and living artists while providing educational opportunities and mentorship for young musicians.
The Durham Symphony regularly collaborates with area schools, universities, youth organizations, and community partners, reinforcing its belief that live orchestral music should be accessible to everyone.
About Maestro William Henry Curry
