Artist Talk: Kendra Frorup

Registration ends Friday, 04/03/2026 5:45pm EST

About This Event

Doors Open at 5:00pm for mingling & refreshments, Artist Talk begins promptly at 5:30pm.

Join us for an intimate conversation with Kendra Frorup as she explains the inspirations behind the work in her current exhibition, At Home Anywhere.

At Home Anywhere is a body of work rooted in personal experience, cultural memory, and adaptability. My art is a convergence of memory, material, and meaning—an ongoing exploration of belonging, transformation, and the layered narratives that shape who we are. The exhibition invites viewers to recognize the potential in what surrounds us and to understand that home is not fixed; it is something we carry, continually shaping and re-creating. This inquiry remains central to my practice as I deepen my engagement with artistic traditions in Africa, uncovering the shared threads of human experience that connect us across geography and time.

Kendra Frorup was born and raised in the Bahamas.  She earned a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Tampa and an MFA in Sculpture from Syracuse University. She is a 2024–2025 Fulbright Scholar and is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Tampa.

Her work is included in major international collections such as the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, the Venice Biennale – Exposició Art Camp 2012, col·lecció FEDA through Andorra and UNESCO, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and the Baha Mar Art Collection. She has exhibited her work at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, the Maitland Art Center in Maitland, FL, the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas in Nassau, the Little Haiti Cultural Complex (Art Basel venue) in Miami, the Musée International des Arts Modestes in Sète, France, and award winning participation in the Florence Biennale in 2015.
