Presented by the Eagle River Coalition and the Eagle River Fund

Headwaters at the Theater: An evening to celebrate our river and inspire our community

Registration ends Tuesday, 06/16/2026 8:00pm MDT

About This Event

The Eagle River annually contributes 3% of the Colorado River’s total flows and we find ourselves in its headwaters region. With drought conditions breaking historical records, our community needs to come together to take action to protect local rivers more than ever before.

You’re invited to join the Eagle River Coalition and the Eagle River Fund as we co-host a showing of “The River,” an award-winning feature-length documentary, followed by a discussion of the film and efforts to protect local waterways.

When you register, you will be entered to win one of several great prizes, including branded hats from ERC and ERF, as well as other great items donated by local businesses!

About the Film

  • Winner of the 2026 Boulder International Film Festival Impact Award, “The River” made its public debut this April.

An urgent, intimate journey into the Colorado River crisis, at an unprecedented time when legal renegotiations will determine the future for hundreds of millions of people and decide the likelihood of the river’s own survival.

After 5 million years of existence, the Colorado River now fights to survive. This once thriving life source to millions of people and wildlife, is now on the brink of collapse, as human consumption, booming industry, and climate change threaten to dry up its already depleted reservoirs forever. In a moment of reckoning, an unlikely ensemble of people dependent on the river must defend their way of life against modern pressures and unjust laws, all while coming to terms with the choices we've made that have led to this disaster and the uncertain future ahead. But this ancient river has always had a life of its own, and there are still some who will stand up and give it a voice. For if the river can regenerate, maybe so can we.

------------

We hope you'll join us!
